Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Farooq Sattar on Monday termed the indictment of former president Pervez Musharraf as ‘selective justice’.
Talking to reporters, he said the provision of justice should not be selective. “It’s tantamount to compromising on serving the justice as we see in Musharraf’s trial,” he said. He stressed the requirements of justice must be fulfilled indiscriminately.
To a question, the MQM lawmaker said that Article 6 of the constitution should be implemented in its letter and spirit sans any ‘favouritism’.
The special court, earlier indicted former president Pervez Musharraf for treason on charges relating to his 2007 imposition of emergency rule.
Tahira Safdar, one of the three members of the court, read out six charges, with the ex-president pleading “not guilty” to each of them.
