Cop awarded death sentence in SHO murder case

An Anti-terrorism Court on Monday handed down a death sentence to an accused charged with murdering a station house officer (SHO), Preedy, in April 2013.

The ATC announced the verdict after charges against the accused, constable Nazakat Ali, were proved besides imposing on him a fine of Rs 5 million.

Constable Nazakat Ali was a personal guard of the then SHO Preedy Agha Asadullah. He killed the SHO when he was travelling with him in a private car near Saddar in early April, 2013. Judge Saleem Raza Baloch of the ATC-III reserved his judgement after recording the evidence of witnesses from both the sides on March 19. A case was registered under Sections 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act.
