The ninth stage of ‘Sehat Ka Insaf’ (Justice for Health) campaign was completed in Peshawar on Sunday amid tight security.
The health campaign, introduced by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf-led (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), has vaccinated thousands of children against polio and other diseases.
Owing to the security threats, Section 144 was imposed in the city, while a ban on motorcycle riding was also ensured to avoid any untoward incident.
According to an official statement, around 746,000 children of 97 union councils were inoculated against polio and nine other deadly diseases by over 4,217 teams, which were formulated to administer the health campaign. As many as 6700 police personnel had been deployed to maintain law and order during the campaign.
Furthermore, tablets to filter drinking water were distributed in over 300,000 households during this stage.
