An accountability court on Friday accepted the exemption pleas for former prime ministers Yousaf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf in the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) corruption case.
A judge of accountability court Muhammad Bashir heard the case pertaining to the OGRA multi-billion scam.
Accepting the pleas, the court exempted them from court appearance. During the proceedings, main accused Tauqir Sadiq along with Jawad Jamil, Mansoor Muzafar and Kamal Mari were produced before the court.
Expressing displeasure over the non-appearance of co-accused Ziaur Rehman, the court ordered to produce him during the next hearing or else arrest warrants will be issued.
Zia’s counsel apprised the court that his client was undergoing treatment abroad, adding that he would return as soon as he recovers.
The court ordered the counsel to present Zia’s medical certificate and adjourned the hearing until April 9.
