The 116th death anniversary of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was observed on March 27.

A great visionary and statesman, Sir Syed, sought the intellectual development of the people through modern education.
Sir Syed Ahmed Khan was.

He established the Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College which was later upgraded to Aligarh Muslim University.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan lived the last two decades of his life in Aligarh, regarded widely as the mentor of 19th and 20th century Muslim entrepreneurs and politicians.

He passed away on March 27, 1898.
