Zardari wants BB’s jewellery back

ISLAMABAD-

Former president Asif Ali Zardari has applied for the return of the jewellery that belonged to his late wife Benazir Bhutto, which was seized by the Swiss authorities in 1997.

According to reports, Zardari has applied for the return of the jewellery worth over 300,000 dollars through an offshore company.

The Pakistani Government came to know of the move of the former president through its lawyer in Switzerland.

Benazir Bhutto’ jewellery was seized by the Swiss authorities on account of an investigation of SGS and Cotecna scandal against the couple.

The case was closed after the signing of the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in 2008.

The jewellery, however, remained under the authorities of Switzerland.

The government lawyer has sought guidance from Islamabad in order to reply to the Swiss attorney who seeks a response within ten days
