ISLAMABAD-
The special court constituted for the treason trial of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf resumed its hearing on Wednesday, a private news channel reported.
The three-member court, headed by Justice Faisal Arab, heard the case.
During the hearing, Chief Prosecutor Akram Shaikh said that in light of the evidence, the case was now a matter of eight to 10 days.
Shiekh said that he seeks a life term or a death sentence for the former army dictator with regard to the High Treason Punishment Act 1973.
He added that he has not been biased in his media interviews and he made his statement on Musharraf’s blood pressure in the court and not to any television channel.
He said that the CDs of his TV interviews could be viewed and if there was an indication of bias from his side, the court could choose to replace him.
He further said that trial had not even begun yet so how could the prosecutor be blamed for bias already.
the prosecution is only working over the complaints and evidence submitted by the federal government and has no direct role, added Sheikh.
Musharraf’s advocate also presented his arguments afterwards.
The court was adjourned till Thursday.
