Overall situation in country improving bit by bit: PM

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said continuity of democratic system has enhanced Pakistan’s stature in the comity of nations.

Talking to reporters on his arrival in London after attending the international Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague, he said democracy is taking roots in the country.

The prime minister claimed that economic indicators were getting better day by day, and the overall economic situation improved since his party came into power.

Nawaz Sharif said foreign investment has started coming in, and Pakistan’s Rupee is gaining strength against the American dollar.

He expressed hoped that the load-shedding issue would gradually be resolved soon as well.

“Some 21,000MW electricity would be added to the national grid during the next seven to eight years,” the prime minister said.

Nawaz Sharif said the government has initiated a dialogue process with the militant Taliban to bring lasting peace and economic stability in the country.

He hoped that the peace talks would bear fruit soon as they were showing plenty of “signs of progress”.
