Donate blood, save lives

*LSC all set to develop one of the largest volunteer blood donors data of the city

Pakistan faces an annual shortfall of six hundred thousand units of blood, it is about time all of us play our part to reduce this shortfall, said Life Saving Cause (LSC) President Affan Rashid Naz on Tuesday while addressing a meeting to review the preparation of the blood grouping camps to be setup at the University of the Punjab Quaid-e-Azam Campus on April 2, 2014.

The camps were previously scheduled to be set-up on March 26 and 27 but due to unexpected holidays they were postponed for a month.

The location of the eights camps are outside Faisal Auditorium, Administration Block, near Institute of Business Administration, near Transport Department, near Law College, near Centre of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Sheikh Zaid Islamic Centre and Undergraduate Bloack. The camps will begin at 9 am and will end at 4 pm.

Affan said that the aim of these blood grouping camps is to decrease the gap and increase the number of volunteer blood donors.

Toheed Ahmad, the chief organiser of the camps, said that the LSC will leave no stone unturned to develop one of the largest data of volunteer blood donors. He thanked the PU administration for their support.

Marzyyiah Gondal, a student volunteer for the society, while appreciating the steps of the LSC said that everyone, especially women, should come out in large numbers and make the camps a success. “Such activities will encourage other people to donate blood voluntarily,” she added.
