Bill against child corporal punishment tabled in National Assembly

ISLAMABAD-

Member National Assembly Marvi Memon on Tuesday tabled a bill seeking a Rs. 50,000 fine and, or a one-year imprisonment for those involved in child corporal punishment.

The bill seeks to prohibit all types of physical punishment for the children, including slapping, or striking with a stick, belt, shoe or any other object.

Hair and ear pulling are also sought to be prohibited in the bill.

A similar bill was tabled by Dr. Atiya Inayatullah in the previous NA and had been passed. However, it could not be translated in to a law as the Parliament was dissolved for the general elections.
