Polio virus found in drinking water in twin cities

Polio virus has been found in drinking water on Sunday in the twin-cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The resident and social groups of the city expressed great reservation and anxiety over the revelation of the virus and demand the government to take precautionary measures so as to avert outspread of the virus which could be fatal for the masses.

The residents lamented that the government failed to take any measure for its eradication since the first polio case in Pakistan and now the government must wake up and take actions.

According to sources, due to the filthy and dirty water lines in the twin cities, pollution is also rising.

It was said that Rawalpindi received most of the drainage water from Islamabad and there is likely that the polio virus may exist in Islamabad. According to health ministry, environmental samples have begun taking from the drainage system of the capital so as to assess the level of pollution in the federal city.
