Pakistan is facing a number of problems and challenges however, they can be overcome by acting upon the ideas of Allama Iqbal, said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on his visit to the shrine of Allama Muhammad Iqbal on Pakistan Day on Sunday.
He laid a wreath on the shrine and also offered prayers. Recording his impression in the visitors’ book, the chief minister paid rich tributes to the ‘Poet of the East’.
He said that Pakistan will be steered out of the problems under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the day is not far off when it will regain its lost status in the comity of nations. He said that foundation stone of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Project has been laid on the historic occasion of the Pakistan Day. He said that completion of this project will result in provision of speedy and comfortable transport facilities to the citizens of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on the pattern of Lahore. He said that work will be carried-out round the clock on the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Bus Project which is a gift for the nation on the Pakistan Day.
The chief minister further said that everyone has the right of freedom of expression. He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N government wants to have good relations with the neighbouring countries. Replying to a question, the chief minister said that 1300 megawatt more electricity will be available in national grid after a year. He said that work is being carried-out on 100 megawatt solar power project in Cholistan and it will start production by the end of current year. Similarly, he said that 450 megawatt electricity will be available from Nandi Pur power project during the current year while Guddu power project will produce 750 megawatt electricity and all these projects will be completed within a year. Shahbaz Sharif said that every effort of the government is aimed at progress and prosperity of the people. He said that a separate country was created for the Muslims of subcontinent as a result of historic resolution approved by the forefathers of the nation on March 23, 1940. It is unfortunate that the goals of creation of the country have still not been achieved. Provincial ministers Ata Maneka, Syed Haroon Sultan, Zakia Shahnawaz, assembly members Pervaiz Malik, Mehr Ishtiaq, Kh. Imran Nazir and senior government officers were present on the occasion.
