ISLAMABAD
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif laid the foundation stone of metro bus project on Sunday.
According to details, 23.4 kilometres of track would be laid from Mall Road to Faizabad for introducing metro bus service at an estimated cost of Rs 44.21 billion in which a signal-free interchange would also be constructed at Peshawar Mor valuing Rs 4.7 billion.
Through the project, the people of Rawalpindi and Islamabad would be given international mass transit system and more than 15 million people would benefit from it.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, the prime minister said that no change took place in the 65-year history of the country.
Nawaz said that there was a shortage of electricity and gas in the country. He said no project was initiated for the betterment of people in the last 15 years.
The PM said that terrorism and illiteracy took room in the country, which he said is due to the wrong policies of military dictators.
However, he expressed determination to steer the country out of the crises.
Lauding the role of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for development of Punjab, he assured all possible assistance to the provincial government in the completion of the project.
He said the bus project would be extended to divisional level and Multan metro bus service will be started in the next phase.
The prime minister said the government is working on several national projects including Lahore-Karachi Motorway and Islamabad-Muzaffarabad Railroad. He hoped that new Islamabad International Airport would become functional by the next year.
Expressing his satisfaction over economic progress, the PM said, “Our exports are increasing and dollar is being kept under 100 rupees.”

Cmon……. Shahbaz Sharif… For a change use available infrastructure rather than building new infrastructure. Our country cannot afford to waste such big amounts of money on a single project. For once, do something genuinely for the under privileged and not for votes…
