Kangana Ranaut, who won accolades for her performance in the recently-released Queen, will play a 35-year-old mother in Sujoy Ghosh’s next, Durga Rani Singh.
“I’m 26 and I’m playing a 35-year-old mom to a 14-year-old paralytic girl. It’s a very challenging role as I have never played a mother on screen,” says Kangana.
The role, she adds, requires a lot of research. “I will have to work on my body language to get the character right. I will also have to go through aging and use prosthetics.
Then I have to get the psychology of the mother of a paralytic daughter right.”
Ghosh, who directed Vidya Balan in the 2012 hit film, Kahaani, had earlier finalised her for this role too. But Vidya, 35, backed out of the film last week and suggested Kangana’s name for the role, having loved her performance in Queen.
