PTI lawmaker Shireen Mazari on Sunday said Samiul Haq’s statement that peace would come when Pakistan leaves the US war on terror is vindication of PTI’s position.
The PTI central information secretary said her party has always demanded that terrorism in Pakistan has a direct correlation to the state having become a party to the war on terror.
“PTI feels that now that direct dialogue between the government of Pakistan and the TTP is proceeding, delinking from the war on terror has become a critical factor in moving to peace,” she said.
“While there are some indigenous factors for militancy also prevailing in the country, including sectarian terror, mafia terror and militancy these have all been aggravated by external intrusions and in the case of the Taliban the US war on terror. It is imperative now to isolate the hard core militants and ensure that peace through dialogue succeeds to prevent more bloodshed especially of innocent Pakistanis.”
A major step in this direction is to disassociate from the war on terror, she concluded.
