Teenage house maid injured critically due to torture
A teenage house maid was hospitalised in critically condition after being subjected to severe torture by the masters on Saturday.
Najma, 14, hailing from Shafiqabad was serving as house maid in the house of a lawyer residing in Sundar.
The house owner brutally tortured the 14-year-old girl over a petty issue leaving her critically injured.
Upon getting the information, the poor parents shifted the victim girl to hospital and contacted the police.
However, the police remained reluctant to register case against the influential lawyer and record statement of the tortured girl.
The parents of the house maid have demanded of Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif for taking notice of the incident and directed the authorities for action against the accused.
The non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have also protested over the incident and expressed concerns over the surge in violence against young house maids despite the provincial government has directed the administration to keep a check over the child labour.
