A partial strike was observed in different districts of Sindh including Jamshoro on Saturday against the killing of Jaey Sindh Qaumi Mahaz’s (JSQM) central leader Maqsood Qureshi.

Thin traffic was observed on main roads in Jamshoro. The shutter-down strike was observed in Jamshoro, Kotri, Manjhand, Bhan, Saeedabad and other adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, all public institutions were reportedly closed while papers in Liaqat Medical University, Sindh University and Mehran University scheduled for Saturday were also postponed. Business outlets, petrol pumps and CNG stations were seen shut.

Meanwhile, strict security measures were taken to avoid any untoward situation, and Rangers and police patrolled in the streets.

JSQM leader Maqsood Qureshi and his associate Salman Wadood were found dead in a burned car on Friday. Tension gripped the area after the burnt vehicle was discovered with two charred bodies on Bhiria Road near Naushahro Feroze. Following the incident, armed men took to the streets and resorted to aerial firing, forcing closure of business activities in different areas of interior Sindh on Friday. Maqsood Qureshi was brother of late JSQM chief Bashir Qureshi who died in Sakrand, Nawabshah, in 2012.
