Peace evades city as violence claims 9 more lives

The mercenary killers are still at large playing with the lives of innocent citizens in the metropolis as another nine people including a police officer and a cop were gunned down during the last 24 hours.

In a drive-by ambush, four gunmen riding two motorcycles, sprayed bullets at the vehicle of former SHO Korangi Industrial Area Anwar Jaffery killing him on the spot and wounding his driver, Pasha, according to SP Korangi, Usman Bajwa.

In a frenzied rush towards the hospital, the vehicle carrying members of Jaffery’s bereaved family met an accident near Korangi Crossing. Meantime, assassins in police uniform, opened gunfire at on-patrol police party near Islam Chowk of Orangi Town, killing a cop, Mahboob, and a passer-by Sabir Hussain.

In other violence and firing incidents in different areas of the city, six people including a woman were shot dead. It should be mentioned that 59 police officers and cops have been targeted in the first two months and 20 days of the current year.
