Directs FIR registration, summons Secretariat Police Station SHO
The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday directed registration of a First Information Report (FIR) against the security officials involved in missing persons’ case.
SC’s three-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja resumed the hearing of case pertaining to 35 missing persons from Malakand Internment Centre.
During the course of proceedings, Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Salman Butt informed the court that the government had submitted an application to lodge FIR in Secretariat Police Station.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Advocate General (AG) Latif Yousufzai supported the AGP’s statement and informed the court that the Malakand Police Station has received an application to lodge the FIR.
Justice Khawaja said that it was obligatory for everyone to uphold the Constitution and the court did not intend to degrade anyone.
Annoyed over failure to register an FIR, the court also summoned Secretariat Police Station SHO after viewing the application.
The KP AG informed the court that the Malakand deputy commissioner was considering provisions for registering FIR.
Justice Khawaja remarked that the court could not summon district coordination officer as advocate general of the province was present before the court.
Later, the court sought progress report of the case and adjourned the hearing till Friday.
