Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has served a show-cause notice to former PPP leader and Senator Faisal Raza Abidi for voicing support to military rule in the country, a private news channel reported on Thursday.

Abidi had criticised the PPP in a speech on Tuesday and favoured imposition of martial law in the country.  The notice was issued by provincial leadership and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah for violating party discipline and adopting anti-democratic stance.

When contacted, Faisal Raza Abidi said the chief minister had a weak memory. “I have resigned from party membership a year ago, now what is the point of issuing show-cause notice to me,” asked Abidi.

He announced starting a movement, opposing ‘so-called’ democracy and imposition of martial law in the country from March 23 in Sindh.

By favouring a dialogue with terrorists, he said, Sindh government was not only violating the constitution, but also disregarding the sacrifices of several people including former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

He said military should immediately take over to save the country from terrorists.
