Anti-polio staff recruited at Rs 7,500 per person per month unpaid for three months

Non-disbursement of salary for the last three months has caused embarrassment among the polio vaccination staff in Rawalpindi.

These workers are performing the duty of administering polio drops since the last three months in 16 camps set up at entry and exit points of Rawalpindi city in collaboration with World Health Organization (WHO).

The compensation was fixed Rs 7,500 per month for each member of polio vaccination staff at the time of their enrolment. As many as 130 polio vaccination volunteers are performing the duty since January, 1, 2014 but not a single person has been paid, putting them and their families on the brink of starvation.

These workers have demanded for immediate payment of their outstanding salaries to mitigate their financial woes.
