Policeman among four killed in violence

At least four persons including a policeman were killed in different incidents of violence in the troubled metropolis on Thursday.

According to police sources, unknown gunmen opened fire on a police van when police personnel tried to stop them in Orangi Town. Two persons including a cop identified as Mehboob was killed while another policeman Farooq sustained injuries in the incident.

A policeman and a passer-by received bullet injuries in the armed attack and were shifted to a nearby hospital, however, they succumbed to their injuries. In another incident, one person was shot dead near Jamali Goth, whereas, a tortured body was found in Malir’s Memon Goth area.

A person identified as Sabir was killed for resisting a robbery attempt in Shamsi Colony of Orangi Town. Meanwhile, two men identified as Saqib and Adnan injured in an alleged shooting by Rangers in SITE area. They were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. According to Rangers official, both men opened fire on Rangers personnel first.

The DG Rangers has formed a committee to probe the incident that will submit its report by Friday. Rangers spokesman said that those personnel who were involved in the shooting would remain in detention until completion of the inquiry.
