LAHORE-
The Punjab Assembly on Thursday passed a bill to make the 48,000 lady health workers permanent employees, a private news channel reported.
The bill, named Punjab Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Authority Bill 2014, will also regularise around 1,947 supervisory staff.
Owing to the transfer of health issues from federal to provincial governments after the 18th amendment, the Lady Health Workers programme had been suspended.
Once the bill is signed by Punjab Governor Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar, the Punjab Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Authority will issue confirmation letters to the lady health workers.
