Life Saving Cause (LSC), a blood donation society, aims to build one of the largest blood donor data of the city. To accomplish this, the society will setup 6 camps at University of the Punjab Quaid-e-Azam Campus on March 26 and March 27, 2014 to determine the blood groups of the students. The location of the six camps will be outside Faisal Auditorium, Administration Block, near Institute of Business Administration, near Transport Department, near Law College and near Centre of Earth and Environmental Sciences. The camps will begin at 9 am and will end at 4 pm.
LSC President Affan Rashid Naz said that according to statistics Pakistan faces an annual shortfall of six hundred thousand units of blood every year. “The aim of these blood grouping camps is to decrease this gap and increase the number of volunteer blood donors,” he added.
Marzyyiah Gondal, a student of Institute of Administrative Sciences, while appreciating the steps of the LSC said that everyone, especially women, should come out in large numbers and make the camps a success. “Such activities will encourage other people to donate blood voluntarily,” she added.
The event’s organising committee is lead by Toheed Ahmed and Hibba Saeed Sindhu.
A large number of students have registered themselves to assist the society in setting up the camps.
LSC has provided volunteer blood donations to over 2500 patients in the past year and aims to continue serving the people.
