Saudia Arabia deports 700 Pakistani prisoners

Saudi Arabia on Wednesday deported 700 Pakistani prisoners detained in the kingdom for illegal stay.

Pakistani Counsel General (CG) Aftab Khokar told journalists that the 700 Pakistanis prisoners sent to Karachi in the first phase, had been arrested for illegal stay in Saudi Arabia. Plans are under way to repatriate a total of 4,400 Pakistani detainees from the Shumaisy deportation center, he added.

Khokher held a meeting with Saudi authorities at the Shumaisy deportation center, where he met with Saudi General Jaman Ghamdi, Salman bin Abdulaziz and immigration officers from Riyadh.

“The meeting was held in the presences of General Faiz, head of the Shumaisy deportation center, and other officers,” he said, adding that there were currently 4,400 Pakistanis at the deportation center. We handed out 2,100 passes on Monday and will distribute the remaining passes within a few days, the CG said.

Most illegal expatriates who were in Madinah prison were also sent to Shumaisy and now only 195 Pakistanis remain present there at the moment, he said.
