Punjab Assembly’s Standing Committee on Tuesday regularised services of over 48,000 lady health workers, a private news channel reported.
Hundreds of lady health workers protested last month for regularisation of their services, and later ended their protest over government’s assurance that a draft bill would be tabled in the Punjab Assembly to regularise their services.
Sources said a formal notification in this regard is likely to be issued by the provincial health ministry within three days.
The move came a day after protesting ad-hoc nurses, who were also demanding the regularisation, ended their protest after an agreement with the government which ensured that their demands would be addressed.
However, steps are yet to be taken in this regard.
