As many as three bodies of a family including husband, wife and son were recovered from a house in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Tuesday.

According to police sources, the residents were identified as Sameer, Hira and a 6-year-old boy, Abdullah. Police claimed when they entered the house, they found three bodies lying on the floor which had marks of tortures on their necks and it had doubts that the three were hanged till death or were choked.

Sameer’s neighbour claimed that the deceased were financially strong and were living a peaceful life. However, the preliminary investigation by police suggested that Sameer first choked his wife and son and then he hanged himself.

Meanwhile, in another accident, one policeman died and another injured as a speeding vehicle hit the motorbikes the two cops were riding on Netty Jetty flyover.

According to police sources, the dead cop was identified as Ghulam Shabbir. He was posted in VIP security zone and was on his way to office. The injured cop was Toor Khan. The body and the injured were shifted to a civil hospital, police said.

On the other hand, Rangers and police conducted raids against criminals in the southern metropolis.

On condition of remaining anonymous, a member of the police’s anti-violent crime cell (AVCC) tasked with combating kidnapping for ransom in the city, revealed that the cell has been reduced to arranging ransom exchanges.

The AVCC officer further revealed that the cell had been operating without a chief officer for the last two months during which 32 people had been kidnapped and most had had to secure their release after paying heavy ransom amounts.

The officer added that 10 kidnapping cases were still in process; the victims include three children, three doctors and four businessmen.
