A girl was allegedly kidnapped, married twice, gang-raped, tortured and stripped naked in revenge for her brother’s love marriage to a girl of the accused, reported private news channels on Tuesday.
According to reports, Sanaullah eloped with a girl of his village Mawar Bhattian against the wishes of the duo’s families.
The girl’s family approached the kangaroo court (Panchayat) of the village which ruled that Sanaullah’s sister would now be married to his wife’s brother, Zahid Ali.
After the decree, Zahid and his accomplices kidnapped Sanaullah’s sister and forcibly held her Nikkah with Zahid.
The girl was divorced after five days.
She was later given under the Nikkah of Zahid’s cousin Noor Ahmad.
Some days later, she was gang-raped by four members of Zahid’s family.
The girl was tortured, stripped naked and was tied to a tree in the village.
The accused called her family to get their daughter back in return for their own girl.
The family of the victim managed to recover her from the kidnappers after a month.
The victim approached the magistrate of Tehsil Lalian for a complaint.
The magistrate ordered the registration of a case and a medical examination of the victim.
On Monday, the victim submitted an application to the Mohammadwala police station and an FIR of kidnap and rape was registered.
DPO Munir Zia of Chiniot confirmed that the Panchayat had decreed to marry to victim to Zahid to avenge his brother’s act in February.
But neither the victim nor her family approached the police for registering a case, he adds.
These kangaroo courts should be squashed and it must be made easier for the law to execute rapists. This must be a key job for legislators. There is no point in blaming the Police or Judiciary when these two have had their hands tied up by our laws.
I think this country should get demolished if this continues and I am a Pakistani not indian sadly :(.
