ISLAMABAD-
Member of Sindh Assembly Dr Mahesh Kumar commended announcement of cash compensation for the affected people of Thar by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that the ratio of poverty in Thar is highest in the country.
He said that there is lack of communication and electricity in the most parts of Thar.
The severe cold weather caused the deaths of children, he opined. He added most of the children died due to Pneumonia and Malaria ageing less than two years.
Deputy Commissioner, Tharparkar, Asif Ikram said that live stock is back bone of the economy of Thar.
He said that the cash compensation will likely to be distributed through National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
He said relief activities are underway in full swing in Thar.
