The Sindh Writers and Thinkers Forum has strongly condemned brutal attacks on temples, assets and lives of Hindu community in Larkana.
In a statement signed by the representatives of the forum, Jami Chandio, Inam Sheikh, Professor Mushtaq Meerani, Ishtiaq Ansari, Mushtaq Shoro, Muzafar Chandio, Shauqat Shoro, Arbab Chandio, Akash Ansari, Professor Ajaz Qureshi and others, said that Sindhi Hindus were being targeted under a premeditated conspiracy to force their exodus from Sindh.
It was a continuity of abduction of Hindu girls and kidnappings for ransom, the statement said. Hidden hands in collusion with fanatic elements have barreled towards Sindh where religious and sectarian harmony had been respected since centuries.
Writers said a completely collapsed governance system in Sindh was the primary cause of this lawlessness. The PPP government has repeatedly proved its incompetence and indolence in managing affairs in the province.
The province is virtually controlled by criminal mafias and the government is reduced to a myth in Sindh. People at the helm of affairs in Sindh are preoccupied with corrupt practices and self-centered priorities. As a result of nepotism, recruitment, promotions and transfers, the whole administrative machinery is infested with incompetent and corrupt elements.
Writers have expressed their deep exasperation on a planted religious fanaticism and termed such incidents as an assault on a tolerant and peace loving Sindhi culture which believes in human values beyond faith and identities.
They alarmed people of Sindh that sectarian and religious acrimonies are being fanned by planted elements who want to jeopardize political unity of Sindh and distract people of Sindh from their movement for national rights. They urged saner segments of society to stand up against all such conspiracies and protect Hindu community who are integral part of Sindh and Sindhi society. They warned the leadership of PPP that is this spiraling fanaticism is not fettered; the day is not far when they will not be able to observe anniversaries of their leaders in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh.
