Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif on Sunday said that adequate efforts were being made for generating maximum electricity to provide relief to the masses.
Talking to the media, he said an effective policy had been adopted for reducing line losses and improving electricity services across the country.
“We are working on short-, medium- and long-term policies for generating electricity and for the purpose different channels and resources are being utilised,” he said.
The minister said due to effective measures adopted by the government there was a considerable increase in revenue as the government had recovered Rs 22 billion. “The duration of loadshedding will further decrease after the addition of 1700 megawatt to the national grid and functioning of the Nandipur power project,” he added.
The minister urged upon traders that they should close commercial centres and bazaar at 7pm to save electricity, adding that their cooperation and support would enable the government to overcome the energy crisis.
