PM asks ulema to promote Pakistan’s image globally

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that the government was fully committed to resolve the challenges confronting the country through consultations while meeting a 10-member delegation of Pakistan Ulema Council led by its chairman Allama Tahir Ashrafi on Thursday.

“We believe in resolving the issues through consultation as consultative process proves helpful in handling complex situations,” the Prime Minister said in the meeting.

Sharif stressed that ulema (religious leaders) should play their role in promoting Pakistan’s positive image in the global community and pointed out that extremism could be eradicated from the society by following the true spirit of Islam.

Nawaz Sharif assured the government’s all out support to the ulema in playing their role to advance the cause of peace and harmony in the country.

Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) chairman Allama Tahir Ashrafi lauded the premier’s efforts to help Pakistan overcome various challenges.

He said with Sharif’s personal interest, the process of negotiations with Taliban made headway.

Moreover, Ashrafi assured the prime minister of full support by Pakistan Ulema Council and added that the premier’s desire for peace and his political acumen was reflective of his sincerity for the country.

The PUC chairman also expressed support for the government’s foreign policy and its efforts to eradicating polio from the country.

  1. WTF – "Ulema" is the cause of Pakistan's image in the world which sees it as a intolerant religious fundamentalist regressive state and society.

    what can one say to this duffer PM.Our ulema since time of Bhutto is playing extraordinary role for portraying Pakistan as castle of Islam.Now at this time we are scaring our neighbors and rest of world by supplying all kind of top class jiahdi brand.
