Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) Monday decided to take all trade and industry associations on board for preparation of proposals for the budget 2014-15.

The decision was taken at a meeting headed by PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javaid and participated by representatives of a number of trade and industry leaders. The PIAF chairman said that efforts would be made to give government a set of suggestions for upcoming budget to make it business-friendly. He said the business community understood that Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was utilising his best abilities to overcome economic challenges but at the same the private sector considered itself duty-bound to point the government out hitches for speedy economic recovery.

Malik Tahir said the PIAF had evolved a two-pronged strategy to prepare proposals for the upcoming budget, elaborating that on the first leg, all PIAF executive committee members would be asked to submit sector-specific details about the problems being faced by their respective businesses and secondly, a meeting of all trade and industry associations would be convened to get their suggestions about the upcoming budget.

After finalising these proposals, he said, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would be asked to submit them to the finance ministry so that same could be incorporated in the upcoming budget document, he maintained.
