Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman has rejected the proposal of inclusion of Pakistan Army in the ongoing peace talks with the Taliban.
Talking to a private news channel, Fazlur Rehman said that representation of the army in the committee engaged in peace dialogues, and direct talks will spoil the entire process.
He said that such a step will lower the dignity of the national institution and increase the position of non-state actors.
“Was the defence establishment out of control of the political government that such suggestions were being put forward,” he questioned.
Fazl said that his party would have supported the suggestion of resolving the matter through a Jirga.
Responding to a question, the JUI-F chief said that the new team for dialogues would also fail in coming to a point like the previous committee.
