He likes his cars, the premier does. All through his years in exile, he was a regular at the world’s most prestigious car shows.
This time, due to the tension with the militants and politics in general, he couldn’t get to go. The solution? Have one of your own in the country!
He was in a bit of a hurry at the breakfast meeting that was to be held with the negotiating committee so that he could make it to Lahore in time for his road show. He sacrificed that other great love of his (food) and the committee had to make do with a plain cup of tea.
Maulana Samiul Haq had to step up to the plate and treated the committee to a bit of nihari himself.

Journalist Kuldip Nayar and films man Mahesh Bhatt were in Lahore recently.
Nayar spoke some sense while talking about the need for better relations between neighbouring countries.
These are timely words, especially in Pakistan, where, on the heels of fabulous victories in cricket, first against, India and then against Bangladesh, a lot of tasteless remarks had started doing the rounds. After the victory against India: Pakistan finally victorious in Dhaka against India. After the victory against Bangladesh: Dhaka recaptured.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the fence, the university sending home the Kashmiris boarding students who were celebrating Pakistan’s win was also neurotic.
Nayar presented Mahesh Bhatt as a sort of role model. He is a vegetarian because of his Hindu father, Nayar said, and he fasts during Ramadan because of his Muslim mother. In fact, he doesn’t even drink anymore, which is more than what one could say about some of the devout here.
