The Special Court has rejected all the petitions of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf against the formation of special court and biasness of judges in treason case.

A three-member special court headed by Justice Faisal Arab was hearing the pleas on Friday.

In its short order, the court observed that pleas of Musharraf were not on merit.

The former president had filed pleas against constitution of special court, nomination of judges (accusing them of bias against him) besides formation of the case.

Musharraf’s counsel Anwar Mansoor Khan and Khalid Ranjha continued their arguments on the pleas of their client for nearly two months.

Advocate Akram Shaikh gave his arguments in the case as prosecutor.

The special court had reserved its verdict on these pleas on February 18 after completion of the arguments.

The court, later, adjourned the hearing till March 11.

JUDGES DETENTION HEARING ON MARCH 21ST:

The anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad, which was hearing the judges’ detention case against Pervez Musharraf, adjourned the matter to March 21 after lawyers representing the former president failed to appear in court, a private news channel reported.

ATC judge, Atiqur Rahman, was hearing the case against the former army strongman.

During the hearing, the defence team representing Musharraf could not appear in court in accordance with a boycott of court proceedings by lawyers representing the district bar and Islamabad High Court in the federal capital due to the Islamabad court attack.

The court subsequently adjourned the hearing of the case to March 21.

The judges’ detention case is based on an FIR against the retired general registered in August 2009 on the complaint of Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam Ghumman advocate.

He had asked the police to initiate legal proceedings against Musharraf for detaining over 60 judges, including then chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, after proclamation of a state of emergency in the country on Nov 3, 2007.

  1. I dont now why the courts are giving dates after dates ,this not a civil case to be lingered on .

  2. I read a lot about Musharraf in the last month and think that the Special Court has made the right decision here…

  3. Courts are aware of what they are doing. Forming a Court which in view of Musharraf is bias and also the Prosecutor why not pick more judges different one and le the case carry on. No one will take draustic action against the ex President and also a retired General of the Army A very high profile case is not that easy to handle. I wish government which was formed with rigged votes give relief to people and not to carry on with the Musharraf case STOP it give attention to the plight of the people dying with hunger in Sindh ? That province is not easy for an old CM to handle because of many problems
