KARACHI
Sindh Chief Secretary Sajjad Hotiana on Wednesday sought a concrete proposal from planning and development (P&D) department for construction and repair of road network in Korangi and Landhi Industrial Areas of Karachi.
In a meeting to review problems being faced by industrialists as well as inhabitants of the two oldest industrial areas in metropolis, he said upgrading of the road network, with specific reference to repair, reconstruction and expansion, would be equally beneficial for inhabitants, mainly belonging to the working class.
The Sindh chief secretary also directed the officials concerned to attend to sewerage problems besides ensuring uninterrupted supply of potable water to the two most thickly populated areas of the metropolis.
Meeting was attended by industrialists including Taufiq Chinnoy and Ziad Basheer, Chairman, Landhi Association of Industrialists, Additional Chief Secretary Mohammad Waseem, Secretary of Local Government, Javed Haneef Khan, Secretary implementation, A Hafeez Umrani, KMC Administrator, Rauf Akhter, Managing Director of KWSB, Qutubuddin Shaikh and representatives from different other relevant departments.
Secretary for Local Government, Javed Haneef Khan assured the chief secretary as well as representatives of the industrialists that urgent steps are being taken to address the issues affecting performance as well as general well being of the industrial workers and those belonging to the working class in general.
