ANF arrests five heroin smugglers

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered 61.5 kg fine quality heroin being smuggled abroad and arrested a five member gang at Karachi.
The price of the seized drug in international market is Rs 43.35 crore approximately, said a press release.
According to details, ANF assisted by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) received information that a few individuals were busy for smuggling of heroin abroad by using innovative concealment methods.
Initial ground check revealed suspicious activities, however to further authenticate the information, a discreet surveillance of ANF was imposed.
ANF and Pakistan Rangers conducted a well coordinated raid at House No D-119, Musarat Colony, Malir City, Karachi and recovered 61.5 kg of fine quality heroin. Five people involved in the crime were arrested at the spot.
Interrogation revealed that the heroin was being tactfully concealed inside onions by making a hole in onions hence creating a cavity in the centre.
Later, heroin filled capsules were inserted and finally capped by onion covering with glue. Quantity of onions recovered from the site is weighing approximately 110 kg. The accused also disclosed that onions were also useful in evading the smell of drugs by sniffing dogs.
Initial interrogation revealed that the gang has a history of remaining in smuggling of narcotics.
The revealed innovative method is unique in its own kind and regarded a great success for fight against drug menace.
An FIR has been lodged against all the arrested persons at ANF Police Station and further investigations are under process.
