ISLAMABAD-
The hearing of treason case against the former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf was adjourned on Tuesday after the special court judges did not show up because of a boycott of court proceedings by lawyers of the district bar and Islamabad High Court, a private news channel reported.
Registrar Abdul Ghani Soomro adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
The lawyers called a strike after Monday’s deadly militant attack in Islamabad’s F-8 District Court that left at least 11 people dead, including additional sessions judge Rafaqat Awan. 29 others were also injured in the attack.
Today, , Musharraf’s counsel Ahmed Raza Kasuri said that the boycott has been announced by the District Bar and the Islamabad High Court for a week, adding that the special court formed to try his client also faces security threat.
He added that Musharraf would not appear in the court if the security of the special court formed in Islamabad remains weak.
He said that his defence team will be requesting the special court to transfer the hearing of the treason trial to a safer location.
Can these hearings be held in Dubai?
