- Government’s team says terrorist attacks harmful for dialogue process
While talking to the government’s committee for negotiations with Taliban, Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif Tuesday said that long-term peace was the first priority of the government for which efforts would continue at every level.
During the meeting, also attended by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, the committee submitted recommendations to the prime minister to resume the dialogue process.
The premier directed the committee to continue consultations on the issue. It was also decided that a meeting with the Taliban’s nominated committee will be held in the next few days.
Participants of the meeting agreed that attacks, such as the one at district courts in Islamabad and one in Khyber Agency, were harmful for the dialogue process.
The meeting was held to deliberate on the Taliban’s announcement of a month-long ceasefire and the future course of action regarding the dialogue process.
Earlier, the committee members, Prime Minister’s Advisor on National Affairs Irfan Siddiqi, Major (r) Mohammad Aamir, Rustam Shah Mohmand and Rahimullah Yusufzai held consultations on the announcement of ceasefire by Taliban and the unfortunate incidents of Khyber Agency and Islamabad.
