Bar wants terrorists behind the bars

 

On the call of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), lawyers across the country observed Tuesday as a day of mourning, to protest against the terrorist attack in district courts in Islamabad.

Boycotting court proceedings, lawyers from the Supreme Court Bar Association, Islamabad High Court Bar Association and Rawalpindi District Bar Association took out rallies and chanted slogans against the capital city administration and federal government.

The lawyers have demanded of the government to ensure immediate arrests of the culprits and enhance security at courts. They also demanded payment of compensation to family members of the lawyers who were killed in this incident.

In Punjab‚ the lawyers held protests in different cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Sahiwal, Gujranwala, Vehari, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Jhelum and Gujrat.

In Balochistan‚ Fateha was offered for the victims of Islamabad incident at a condolence reference held all the courts in Quetta. Office bearers of Balochistan Bar Association also condemned the Islamabad terror attack and boycotted court proceedings.

In Sindh‚ a resolution adopted by Provincial High Court Bar strongly condemned the attack. The resolution was adopted at a bar’s meeting chaired by Sindh High Court Chief Justice Maqbool Baqir, while the lawyers in Muzaffarabad and Gilgit-Balistan also protested against the attack.
