Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has requested federal interior ministry to remove his name from Exit Control List (ECL), sources said on Sunday.
Sources said the ex PM had forwarded a letter to interior ministry on February 24, in which he requested the ministry to remove his name from the ECL.
The former PM said that he had not done any serious crime or violation of the Constitution that his name was placed in the list.
He said being the former prime minister, he had been invited for various functions abroad but due to the restriction, he was unable to participate in international events.
Raja also mentioned that he respected the courts of the country and would be present before the court whenever it summons.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had sent a summary to the interior ministry asking it to put the name of ex PM and former finance minister Shaukat Tareen on the ECL in the Rs22 billion RPP scam case.
