Corruption thrives in this country because it is beneficial to powerful land mafia, boosts and protects criminal economy, aids tax evasion, and helps powerful part-time Pakistani elite to transfer their billions without any check.
If scores of women involved in flesh trade could enter Pakistan, through most monitored of all airports located in Islamabad, without visas and any documentation, so could extremists, killers and mercenaries hired by our enemies, willing to bribe corrupt machinery installed to prevent such illegalities from occurring. Terrorism thrives in this country because of corruption and the fact that it involves billions in revenues generated through extortion, kidnapping for ransom, smuggling of weapons and target killings. As long as corruption remains rampant in law enforcement, customs, border security and intelligence agencies, the curse and greed for more will bring disaster for Pakistan. A cursory look at lifestyle of retired police officers, district management group, FBR, customs and lower judiciary members will reveal dividends reaped by this powerful nexus.
Political reconciliation between main political parties and powerful nexus within establishment is visible with either no change in figurehead or rehabilitation of those appointed by previous government and subjected to criticism by than opposition PML(N) such as our ambassador in UK, NAB chairman, former MD PIAC, Chairman PIA Investment, Chairman SNGPL etc.
