Punjab Police (PP) have put in place a comprehensive strategy to provide foolproof security to polio staff and workers during polio campaign in the province, said Punjab Inspector General Police (IGP) Khan Baig during a meeting with the representatives of Melinda Gates Foundation and World Health Organization at Central Police Office on Friday.
Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Secretary Health Babar Hayat Tarar, Health Director General Zahid Pervaiz and Health Director Dr Munir Ahmad were also present in the meeting.
The IGP informed the delegation that all check posts had already been directed to cooperate with polio teams while all DPOs and DCOs would not only remain in contact with polio teams but also deploy police officials at polio containers and transaction points. He said that lady police personnel would also perform duties during the campaign.
Later, talking to media, Khan Baig said that they had beefed up security at all the entry and exit points in the province besides conducting search operations to eliminate terrorism and avoid any untoward incident.
