Petrol price slashed by Rs 2.73

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to discuss prices of petroleum products for March.
The Oil and Gas Development Authority (OGRA) had recommended that the prices of HOBC be increased by Rs 1.31, kerosene oil by Rs 0.49, high speed diesel by Rs 1.08 and light diesel oil by Rs 0.31. It was also determined to decrease the price of petrol by Rs 2.73.
The minister briefed the PM that if the petroleum prices are maintained at the level of February 1 except petrol price, the subsidy to be picked up by the Finance Ministry will be less than Rs 1 billion for March.
In order to maintain price stability in the country, the Prime Minister decided to maintain the existing prices except petrol where the benefit of decrease of Rs 2.73 per litre is passed on to the consumers with effect from Saturday (today).
