President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday said Pakistan would continue to support all efforts aimed at a peaceful, stable and united Afghanistan.
While talking to Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Afghanistan Syed Ibrar Hussain who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the president said that an inclusive, Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process was vital for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The ambassador-designate discussed with the president matters pertaining to his new diplomatic assignment in Afghanistan.
Felicitating Hussain on his appointment, the president urged him to focus on further strengthening Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan.
The president said that Pakistan valued its bilateral ties with Afghanistan and reiterated that Pakistan was committed to building a friendly and good-neighbourly relationship with Afghanistan.
The president urged the newly-appointed ambassador to work with all segments of the society including the Afghan government, the business community, civil society, academia and media personalities to further strengthen the positive momentum generated in bilateral relations.
The ambassador-designate thanked the president for reposing confidence in him and assured that he would work with full commitment and dedication to further augment Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan.
