The Islamabad High Court on Friday issued notice to the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) managing director to explain that why Rs 125,245,185 was not paid to the Bugti family.
A single-member bench, comprising Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, issued the directive while hearing a plea filed by Shahzain Bugti through his lawyer Dr Babar Awan.
During the course of hearing, Awan apprised the bench that the petitioners was the grandson of late Nawab Akbar Bugti and has given a portion of 3,207 acres land on lease to the OGDCL for producing natural gas.
According to Clause 1 of the agreement the payments for the second and third year were to be made in January 2013 and January 2014 respectively, he added.
All the other payments have already been made, however the payment of Rs 125,245,185 which was due from January 2014 has not been made by the OGDCL to the petitioners, which is in violation of the terms of the agreement and promises of respondent as well as the promises of the government of Balochistan, the lawyer maintained.
He contended that it was the legal and contractual obligation of the respondents to pay the agreed amount to the petitioners.
