At least five persons including two cops were killed and four including women and children injured when unknown gunmen attacked house of a policemen late Thursday night.
Police said some unidentified miscreants stormed the residence of Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) Ameen Chandio located in Kacchi Abadi of Pirjo Goth area of Khairpur. As a result of firing, four persons including Ameen Chadio, 40, his cousins Bilal Chandio, 18, Awais Chandio, 17, and a nephew Haji Chandio, 25, died on the spot while four including two women and two children sustained wounds.
The police upon getting the information chased the assailants who also opened fire at police killing one cop, injuring another and escaped from the scene. The injured were rushed to Khairpur hospital, where according to medics, condition of the wounded children was critical.
Deceased Ameen Chandio was deployed in Jacobabad and was on leave these days. PML-F leader Najeebullah Rashidi expressed grave concern over the prevailing law and order situation in Pirjo Goth locality and also criticized the poor performance of police for failure to give protection to public lives and property. A case has been registered against unknown assailants and police was launching raids to apprehend the culprits.
