Dasti’s allegations are baseless, says Nisar

Rejecting allegations of MNA Jamshed Dasti about immoral activities at Parliament Lodges, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Friday sought evidences from the member and assured action if anybody was found guilty.

Speaking on a point of order in National Assembly (NA), the interior minister said, “Instead of maligning elected representatives, the member might have brought forth evidence if he had any, to the knowledge of the speaker”.

“I am ready for an action. I do not doubt the intention of anybody. But, playing up the matter that way was itself improper,” Nisar said.

“His statement suggests as if everybody in the NA is immoral. This earns bad name for parliamentarians. The situation may also not be ideal if practices of people in other professions are evaluated. But, we the parliamentarians always have to pay a price,” Nisar said, adding that the MNA might know better as to who was his target but blaming in totality sends a wrong message within the country and abroad. “If anybody is guilty he should be identified. But, innocent people cannot be blamed for follies they have not committed”.

He said during past few months, the government had enhanced security at Parliament Lodges and now every vehicle was fully checked except those carrying parliamentarians and ministers. “We want to see rule of law and this is manifested in the traffic system and every violator either from judiciary, military, politicians and other citizens are penalized on traffic violations.”

Chaudhry Nisar informed the House that he conducted thorough investigation from last night and gathered the record of CCTV cameras and it was found, “the allegation of the member was totally baseless”.

“I have informed the House about my findings. Had I got any information, I would have presented before the House. Now, if the said member has any evidence he should provide us and we will investigate the matter to the bottom”.
