It’s only between army and Taliban: Sheikh Rashid

Former information minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has said the army and Taliban were the “real parties” and neither talks nor operation will be conducted against Taliban without clearance from the army.

“Whenever an operation is carried out against those who are beheading the innocents, it will be conducted with the army’s consent”, he said while talking to the media men outside the Parliament House on Thursday.

The policies being devised by the government are only on the papers and the real job has to be done either by army or Taliban, he said. He said, “Prominent persons like Gen Javed, Gen Niazi and Gen Mushtaq have been martyred and whosoever says they don’t understand talks are blind.”

“We have no national policy. Policy is what the army has to evolve. Army is sitting on the front seat of the vehicle. The matters will stand resolved automatically if army says okay. Neither interior minister can do anything nor anyone else. The real stake holders are army and Taliban,” he remarked.
